When I arrived in Rennes, I didn’t know I needed to register for a health insurance called ‘sécurité sociale’. I only found out months later when I got sick, and by then, it was too late to be reimbursed.

Going to the pharmacy was so stressful. I didn’t understand the names of the medicines, and I couldn’t explain my symptoms. Even asking for a painkiller felt like a big challenge.

Even after registering for health insurance, I still don’t understand how some things work. The documents to prepare, papers to fill out in French, I didn’t understand anything. I was alone and afraid of making mistakes.
